SNOW MUCH FUN THEME DAY

On Wednesday, December 16th, third grade will have a “SNOW MUCH FUN!” theme

day. Students may dress up in their favorite winter attire: PJ’s, Cozy Sweatpants, Sweaters, Scarves, etc. We will have a fun-filled day with: ornament making, games,

snacks, and surprises! If you would like to help by sending something that we need to school, please take a look at the Sign-Up Genius sent by email. In the spirit of the season, we will also donate hats, scarves, gloves, and socks  to a local organization in need. If you would like to participate, please send to school by Wednesday, December 16th. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!

SPELLING BEE NAMES

Congratulations to the following third graders who will participate in the

Spelling Bee: Keegan Baddock, Emily Brown, Kenley Cole, Axel Davis, Kayla Desai,

Lily Dornburg, Anna Kate Holbrook, Dixon Holland, Caleb Montgomery,

Olivia Mushegan, Torah Rupp, Presley Wilson

MULTIPLICATION FACTS:  Beginning in January, third grade will focus on memorizing basic multiplication facts through 12 x 12.  PLEASE encourage your child to work on these at home as well.

Use these helpful hints to increase accuracy and speed.

"I don't know the answer to the multiplication fact."   WRITE WRITE WRITE.  Using muscle memory is the BEST way to embed the information into LONG TERM MEMORY.  Remember, we want to know theses facts FOREVER, not just to pass a speed drill.  Grab something to write with and on.  Markers, chalk, crayons, pencil, etc.   Then write the factors and the product (answer).  Example:  6 x 7 = 42, 6 x 7 = 42, 6 x 7 = 42, 6 x 7 = 42.  Write it as many times as you need to in order to memorize it.

"I know the answer to the multiplication fact, but I'd like to get faster."  Use flashcards, a computer program, or have someone quiz you!   Make it fun!  How about a competition against Mom, Dad, or your brother?  Who can be faster?
